Davidia Involucrata at Batsford Arboretum

Now is the time to come and view what is reputedly Britain’s largest, oldest and most spectacular specimen of Davidia involucrata - The’ Handkerchief’ or ‘Ghost’ Tree.Situated close to the arboretum entrance, this magnificent tree is adorned with thousands of white ‘handkerchieves’ which flutter in the breeze.

In 1889, after many adventures, Chipping Campden born botanist, Ernest Wilson, brought seed back to this country from China.
